Fun Christmas DIY Craft Decoration

I love making my own Christmas decorations! When I was growing up, my mom always would buy my brother and I Christmas ornaments to paint. Most of them were made of wood but a few times she bought us the Shrinky dink kind. I am showing my age 😉 Do they even have Shrinky Dink anymore?

I cut this Christmas Decoration with my laser. The paint and assemble kit is available to purchase here.

Items I used for this project are:

Christmas ornament wood cutout

I painted all of the pieces first using the makeup sponge and I did use a paint brush for the large ornament cutout.

Vintage ornament

I painted the ornament first so the paint would be completely dry before I applied the stencil onto it. If the paint is not completely dry, when you remove the stencil it will peel up the paint.

Painting with makeup sponges

Once I painted all of the pieces, I used a stencil that can be found here. I used shimmer silver paste with the stencil. I love the shimmer and I thought it was perfect for this craft!

Silver Shimmer Chalk Paste

I applied the Silver Shimmer chalk paste all over the surface using a squeegee.

The part I love the most when using these stencils is removing it from the surface to see the magic!

Once the chalk paste and all of the painted pieces are completely dry, I glue everything into place using my glue gun. I just love how this turned out! I am not the best at making bows but, I am so happy with this!
