My husband and recently took a road trip to the Northwest. On the way home, one of our last stops was too Winterset, Iowa, the location of the movie Bridges of Madison County. I absolutely LOVED the covered bridges! It was so neat to actually see the location of the movie Bridges of Madison county!
There are a total of 6 bridges in Madison County, Iowa. The most famous one from the movie is the Roseman Bridge. This bridge was built in 1883 and was renovated in 1992.
We traveled several miles on gravel roads to visit the bridges. It is such a beautiful area!!
While we were going to one of the bridges, the route took us through the downtown area. We saw the house that John Wayne was born in! That was really cool, we were not expecting that.
Winterset is such a neat little town. One of the bridges was in a local park where families were having cookouts with family and friends.
If you like covered bridges, I highly recommend adding this to you’re list of things to see. It was such a pretty drive, the bridges are beautiful and the town of Winterset is such a nice little town in rural America.
Thank you for visiting!
Have a blessed day!
