How fun are these Whimsical wood cutout Santa Hats

There are so many stores and crafters that celebrate Christmas in July. I always enjoy it myself, I like to make new Christmas crafts and projects in July as well. It is nice to take a break from the summer crafts for a bit.

I scrapbooked for several years and at one point, I even owned an online Scrapbook store. When I saw this new scrapbook paper from Re-Fabbed Boutique, I knew I just had to have it! I knew exactly what one of the projects I would make with it!

I absolutely love it! It is so cute and high quality. I knew as soon as I saw it what one of the projects I would make with it. If you love this paper as much as I do, you can grab it Re-Fabbed Boutique here.

I used my laser machine and cut out the Santa hat shelf sitters/ tiered tray decor.

Using a foam paint brush and covered the hat pieces with Mod podge

For the miniature tag, I used a makeup sponge to paint it. I just lightly dabbed the paint onto the tag so I would not fill in the scored words with paint. When using makeup sponges to paint on surfaces that have scored details, use very little paint and add more if need be. I love using makeup sponges to paint with! These are the ones I use. Also, I will cut off the edge that has paint on it and keep using it. You would be surprised how much use I can get out of 1 little wedge 😉 Here are the ones I use.

I also like to distress the edges. If you like the look, I use Tim Holtz distressing inks. I have several different colors. I purchased the small ink pads that stack onto each other, that way I was able to get more colors for my money 😉

I did use my laser cutter to cut the scrapbook paper to fit the wood pieces. However, you can easily trace the shapes onto the scrapbook paper and cut the paper yourself. Once I cut the paper, I adhered it with my mini travel iron that can be found here. I always use wax paper on top of the paper to protect it from tearing.

After I adhered the scrapbook paper down, next comes the fun part and put it all together!

I glued all of the pieces together using my Ryobi glue gun.

After I completed all of the Santa hats, I kept thinking they “needed something else”. So, I added cotton balls and a small bow to each of them to add dimension and some “fluff”. If you cannot make mini bows, I get all of mine here. I personally think just adding the cotton balls and bows completed them!

Below are some other variations. This scrapbook paper is so much fun and some of the best quality papers I have ever used!

I absolutely love how this turned out!! I added the cotton ball to the hat to add dimension. I have 6 of these Santa Hats in different variations are available to purchase here.

Thank you for stopping by!

Have a blessed day!
